The well pump runs as needed to keep the lake within 1″-2″ of full pool; Thus far evaporation has been less than half of what was anticipated; It uses very little water; Southern Shores lakes have been designed to try to eliminate birds as much as possible; Native grasses are kept at a minimum; There is some native fish life in the lakes to keep them clean; The developers did a ton of research on this, and thus far things are working well, the water is clean and healthy.
